Geoffrey L. Blatt, M.D. FAANS has been with Midwest Neurosurgery Associates since 1992. He graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed Neurosurgical Residency and Fellowship at the State University of New York at Buffalo and Brown University in Rhode Island, respectively. He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
Dr. Blatt has been honored as a Top Neurological Surgeon by multiple organizations including US News and World Report, Ingram’s Magazine, KC Magazine, Castle Connelly and The Consumer’s Research Council. He has served as a departmental head and on the Board of Directors of several hospitals. He is a past president of the Missouri State Neurosurgical Society and the Kansas City Neurology and Neurosurgical Society. He served on the National Council of State Neurosurgical Societies.
While he practices general neurosurgery, he does have specialty training in complex and minimally invasive spinal surgery, vascular neurosurgery, endoscopic neurosurgery and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (Gamma Knife, CyberKnife and Novalis). Dr. Blatt holds patents on devices for replacement of spinal discs and has been involved in the development of some widely used spinal instrumentation.
As part of a treatment team headed by Dr. Blatt, there are years of experience and expertise at each step along the way. The team motto of “surgery as a last resort” has served patients well. The team is conscientious and meticulous, returning phone calls, answering questions, spending face-to-face time with patients and caring about patient outcomes.
