Midwest Neurosurgery Associates is comprised of five neurosurgeons from top-notch training programs, who are committed to providing state-of-the-art neurosurgery to the Kansas City region.

Our History
FOUNDING
Midwest Neurosurgery associates was founded in 1967.
Since then, Midwest Neurosurgery associates has steadily grown from a two person general neurosurgery practice to an five member group with expertise and training in multiple sub-specialty areas.
BUILDING OUR PRACTICE
Arnold Schoolman, MD, PhD, recruited Andrew Kaufman, MD, to join him in August 1972.
Robert Morantz, MD, Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center, left KU to join the group in 1980.
Jonathan Chilton MD, joined the practice in 1988
Geoffrey Blatt, MD joined the practice in 1992.
William Rosenberg, MD, joined the practice in 2002.
Peter Basta, MD, joined the practice in 2007.
Frances Hardaway, MD, FAANS, joined the practice in 2018.
Matthew J. Pierson, MD, FAANS joined the practice in 2020.
Geoffrey Blatt, MD retired from the practice in 2021.
Jonathan Chilton, MD, retired from the practice in 2022
Demi Dawkins MD, joined the practice in 2023
PRESENT DAY
Throughout our long history, the physicians of Midwest Neurosurgery Associates have provided outstanding care to our hometown population, and to people from out-state Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, and Arkansas, as well as states outside the Midwest. In addition, we have seen visitors from international locations who have made their way to Kansas City for treatment.
We now have five neurosurgeons and are still growing, making us the largest private neurosurgery clinic in our region.
HCA AFFILIATES
Midwest Neurosurgery Associates is a private practice group composed of five board-certified or board-eligible neurosurgeons. They work under a contract with HCA to see patients in their HCA Clinic, Midwest Neuroscience Institute. All billing and payments are done through the auspices of HCA Midwest Neuroscience Institute.
